چکیده مقاله :
Spectral acceleration at the fundamental period of the structure is a common intensity measure used in the collapse evaluations. As ductile buildings behave nonlinearly, the effective period at the collapse status may be much longer than the fundamental period. This study shows that the spectral acceleration at the extended period is more appropriate than the common intensity measure used for the collapse assessment of reinforced concrete frame buildings. It is efficient to be applied in the collapse analysis of asymmetric frame buildings because the spectral shape of records is less effective on the collapse predictions using this proper intensity measure.
