Reliability assessment of a free spanning submarine pipeline subjected to stochastic hydrodynamic loading

چکیده مقاله :
Free-span occurs typically in pipelines resting on uneven and scouring seabeds. Free spanning causes vortex-induced vibration (VIV) with different frequencies leading to pipeline fatigue damage, and finally bursting. In this study, for the reliability assessment, a three-dimensional finite-element model of the pipeline is analyzed under hydrodynamic loading considering load and structure uncertainties. Multiple linear regression is done to formulate the relationship between parameters to investigate structural reliability in terms of the probability of failure. The probability of failure is determined using FORM, and alpha-index-based sensitivity analysis is carried out to investigate the impact of uncertainty parameter on fatigue life capacity.
